* Ok, ok, ja wiem, że mówię, że po 'God's Son' to jest masakra, jeśli chodzi o Nasa. Ok. No dobra, to nie do końca prawda, po jedenasty krążek rappera to naprawdę dobra rzecz. To trochę przełomowa płyta, bo przecież Nas właśnie rozwiódł się z Kelis (jej zielona kiecka na okładce!), co nastroiło go dość nostalgicznie - na tyle, żeby zatrudnić takich producentów, jak No I.D., Buckwild, Large Pro i Salaam Remi, ale także Swizz Beatz, czy Justice League. I to wreszcie brzmi tak, jak powinno, jest sporo wycieczek w okolice pierwszych albumów, ale z dużo bardziej dojrzałą warstwą liryczną (Nas zawsze miał świetne teksty, ale tu napisane są z perspektywy człowieka po przejściach, a nie młodego gniewnego), a goście, poza Rick Ross'em i Large Pro, to sami wokaliści: Amy Winehouse, Mary J Blige, Anthony Hamilton... Co by nie mówić, jak dla mnie to chyba najlepsza płyta Nasa z tych współczesnych, łącząca najlepsze rzeczy z obu okresów kariery Nasa.
* Ok, Ok, I know that Iusually say that after 'God's Son' there's no good Nas's album. Ok, maybe that is not truth, because his eleventh album is a piece of good work. Kinda groundbreaking, because Nas had just divorced Kelis (her green dress on the cover!) which got him in the nostalgic mood - so nostalgic, that he hired such producers, as No I.D., Buckwild, Large Pro and Salaam Remi, but also Swizz Beatz or Justice League. And it just sounds as it should sound, there's a lot of trips into the realms of his first albums, but with a lot more mature verses (Nas has always had great lyrics, but here they are written thru the eyes of a man with experience, not the young dangerous mind), and guests except for Rick Ross and Large Pro, there are only vocalists: Amy Winehouse, Mary J Blige, Anthony Hamilton... Whatever you say, this one is top of latest Nas releases, matching best things from both periods of rapper's career.
