* Najpierw Bogna puściła w Kolor Szoku 'Mayday on the frontline' - zgrywałem sobie jej audycje na kasety, więc i ten numer trafił na taśmę - trochę go męczyłem. Niestety, dostać u nas albumy MC Rena w tamtych czasach graniczyło z cudem, więc nic dziwnego, że cd kupiłem dopiero kilka lat temu. I dopiero niedawno miałem okazję docenić jak dobra jest ta płyta! Stałe poczucie zagrożenia wprowadzają podkłady od Dr. Jam i Tootie, Rhythm D i Madness 4 Real. Basy, piszczały, ciężkie, funkowe sample - pycha. No i Ren jest w formie - choć kawałki nieco się wykluczają... Wszystko przez to, że w trakcie nagrywania albumu Ren przeszedł na islam i zmienił nie tylko część zawartości, ale i tytuł. Płyta miała się nazywać 'Life Sentence', ale Ren zastąpił go słowami z przemowy Farrakhana. Niezależnie od ewolucji rappera, ten album jest naprawdę genialny - kwintesencja rapu z Compton. Killer. Brylant. Uwielbiam.
* First I heard 'Mayday on the frontline' in KolorShock radio program - I was recording the auditions on tapes, so this track also got on the tape - I was bumpin it hard. Unfortunately, it was almost impossible to buy MC Ren's albums in Poland in that time, so no wonder I bought it just a few years ago and had a chance to appreciate this record! Constant feeling of danger is provided by the beats from Dr. Jam and Tootie, Rhythm D and Madness 4 Real. Bass, synth, hard funk samples - so tasty. And Ren is also ina good shape - even if the tracks don't actually fit to each other... It all happened because Ren converted into islam during the recording time and he changed not only the content, but also a title. The album was supposed to be called 'Life Sentence', but Ren decided to use words from Farrakhan's speech. Apart from rapper's evolution, this album is really incredible - essence of rap from Compton. Brilliant. I love it.
