* Pamiętam Mr. Lee z jakiś pirackich składanek z rapem z lat 90-91 - nie pamiętam tytułu, ale chyba to było 'Get busy'... Tymczasem to już drugi album tego producenta i DJ, a także rappera z Chicago. Niewielu to pewnie pamięta, ale ten koleś był pionierem hip-house, który królował nie tylko w Stanach, ale również (a może przede wszystkim) w Europie, co skutkowało wysypem takich wykonawców, jak Snap!, Technotronic, Dr. Alban i setki podobnych. Tak, to on jest za to odpowiedzialny! :D Zatem mamy tu sporo house połączonej z rapem, mnóstwo funkowych sampli - bardzo oczywistych i oklepanych, ale z nowymi aranżacjami, no i większość rzeczy tu jest stworzona do tańca. Co ciekawe, mimo, że mało osób kolesia kojarzy, to bardzo wzięty producent i wciąż robi sporo rzeczy dla znanych wykonawców, choć rzadko staje za majkiem. Niemniej jednak jego druga płytka ma strony mocniejsze i słabsze - chyba pierwsza była lepsza...
* I remember Mr. Lee from kinda bootleg compilations with rap in '90-'91 - I don't remember the title, but it was probably 'Get busy'... This one is the second album from this chicago producer, DJ and a rapper. Probably not many remember, but this guy was a pioneer of hip-house, which was taking over the parties all over the world - especially in Europe, so it resulted in creating many acts like Snap!, Technotronic, Dr. Alban and hundreds of followers. Yes, he's responsible for that! :D So we have here a lot of house mixed with rap, a lot of funk samples - very obvious and played out, but with new arranges - and most of the tracks are for the dancefloor. And what's interesting, even if u don't know his name, he has become a popular producer and he still makes tracks for many popular artists - even if he seldom stays behind the mic himself. Anyway, his second album has some stronger and weaker points - I guess his debut was better...
