* Kupiłem sobie tę taśmę w hali Koszyki, kiedy jeszcze działała jako chaotyczne targowisko. Był tam sklep z tanią książką i koszami kaset za grosze. Wygrzebałem z owego kosza Hieny i jeszcze parę kaset (Da Brat, Freak Nasty i szóstką Whodini) - nie spodziewałem się wiele, bo takie okładki, jak owa epka, kojarzyły się raczej z metalem... No, ale płyta wyszła w wytwórni Chuck'a D, więc raczej rap? I to jaki! Krótka, ale treściwa płyta to esencja podziemnego, hardkorowego hip hopu. Muza, zrobiona przez Gary G-Wiz (tak tak, tego Białasa z Bomb Squad!) jest surowa i pełna niepokojących dźwięków, z perkusjami walącymi po głowie. A rapper Kendo jest równie surowy i bezkompromisowy, co podkłady. Jak może brzmieć typ, którego wyjebali z Main Source za bycie zbyt hardkorowym? The Source (nomen omen) również zjechali płytę (2,5 majka), zarzucając Hienom zbyt daleko posuniętą surowość i niepotrzebną brutalność... Pomimo recenzji, epka do dziś pozostaje w pamięci (i głośnikach) fanów, ja również bardzo ją lubię i czasem odświeżam. Szkoda, że kolesie nie wydali nic nowego razem, choć przecież obaj są aktywni - osobno. Hardkorowy, podziemny klasyczek.
* I bought this tape in Koszyki Market hall, when it existed as a chaotic bazaar. There was a shop with second hand books and baskets of tapes for cheap. So I dug out there Hyenas and some more tapes (Da Brat, Freak Nasty and sixth album from Whodini) - I didn't expect much, because such covers like this were dealing rather with metal... But the album came out in Chuck D's label, so maybe rap? Yes indeed! Short but very solid record is an essence of underground hardcore rap. Music was made by Gary G-Wiz (yes, this white guy from the Bomb Squad) and it is raw and full of disturbing sounds, with percussions hitting in the head. And rapper Kendo is raw and uncompromised as well as the beats. How can a rapper sound when u know that he was removed from Main Source for being too hardcore? The Source gave the album 2,5 mics, accusing the band of being too raw and brutal... Despite the review, the EP still remains in the memory and the speakers of the fans and I really like it too and refresh it from time to time. It's a pity that these guys haven't released anything since then - they still remain active, but separate. Hardcore, underground classic.
