* Jeszcze do niedawna nie wiedziałem, że ktoś taki istnieje. Kupiłem jego pierwszy album za jakieś grosze i... kiedy wpadłem na drugą płytę, nabyłem natychmiast - również bardzo tanio. Soweto to rapper i saksofonista z Londynu z korzeniami na Jamajce i Barbadosie. Co mnie urzekło w tym albumie? Wszystko. Sam koncept wciąga - to opowieść o dniu w życiu trzech gości z Birmingham, ich historię opowiadają nie tylko kawałki, ale i skity pomiędzy nimi. Przy czym, trzeba przyznać, że Soweto ma nie tylko świetne teksty, lekko ironiczne i szydercze, ale również umie je przekazać (weźcie 'Everybody Raps'). A muzyka zaś... Płynie. Pełno tu jazzu, nieco funku - brzmienia się mieszają i dostajemy dzięki temu nową jakość. Brzmi to fantastycznie, rzadko udaje się znaleźć coś tak dobrego. Genialny album!
* Just not a long time ago I didn't know about the existence of thatperson. I bought his first album for so cheap and... when I came across his second album, I bought i immiedately - for cheap as well. Soweto is a rapper and saxophone player from London with Jamaican-Barbados roots. What got me on this album? Everything. The whole concept gets u in - it is a story about a day in the life of three different men from Birmingham. Not only the songs tell their stories, there are also skits among the cuts. And I gotta admit that Soweto has got great lyrics, slightly ironic and mocking and he knows how to tell them (check 'Everybody raps'). And the music... flows on. Plenty of jazz, some funk - the sounds mix and he get a new quality due to that. It sounds fantastic, it is kinda rare to find something like this. Genious album!
